White Christmas?: Forecast is calling for snow

Cowley County’s Christmas might just be a white one if weather predictions hold true.

The National Weather Service expects that rain Wednesday will turn to freezing rain and possibly snow by Thursday, which we all know is Christmas Eve Day. It’s possible 3 to 6 inches of snow could accumulate.

"Some snow accumulation is expected the Cowley County area," says Bob Frazee, emergency management coordinator in Ark City. "Persons planning travel should check weather forecast and conditions over the next several days. Everyone else should keep tabs on changing weather and plan accordingly."

A blizzard watch is in effect for areas north and west of Cowley County ? including Wellington and Wichita ? beginning Wednesday. A blizzard watch means blowing snow, strong winds and poor visibility are possible.
