Wind-toppled semi slows traffic on 77 on Wed

Southbound traffic on U.S. 77 highway north of Winfield was slowed for a few hours Wednesday night by a semi truck that had blown off the road during high winds associated with local storms.

Around 5:30 p.m., Cowley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a semi truck and trailer that had tipped over on its side, according to a written report. No one was injured and tow trucks were called to pull the large vehicle from the west ditch.

The truck appeared to be heading northbound near the intersection of U.S. 77 and 112th Rd. when the accident happened.
