UPDATE: Authorities search home for drugs

An early morning search for an active methamphetamine lab near Winfield turned up small amounts of drugs and paraphernalia but no active meth lab, Cowley County Sheriff Don Read said Thursday afternoon.

Around 6 a.m., authorities with the Cowley County Drug Task Force and several other local agencies, executed a search warrant in the 21000 block of 131st Rd., southeast of Winfield. Authorities had information indicating an active meth lab, and possibly some weapons, were at the property.

A small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia were found in a camper trailer outside the residence. A small amount of Ice ? a form of meth ? and some pot were found in a case outside a vehicle parked near an outbuilding.

No active meth lab was found.

A white male, 33, was arrested and taken to the Cowley County Jail on charges of possession of pot and drug paraphernalia. His name has not been made public.

An investigation is continuing, Read said, and formal charges are pending.

Authorities were at the property for more than six hours.
