Cowley College grad killed; 2 more hurt Sun.

A young South Haven woman ? who graduated from Cowley College in 2009 ? was killed Sunday night in a car accident in Wichita, according to published reports.

Kari Rinehart, 21, was driving a vehicle involved in a head-on collision on 29th St. North and Woodlawn, according to KAKE news. A speeding car in an oncoming lane attempted to pass another vehicle and was sideswiped.

The speeding car crossed the median and struck Rinehart’s vehicle. The accident occurred around 10:45 p.m.

Rinehart’s twin sister, Kati Rinehart, and a third woman, Reva Sams, were passengers in the car. They were also injured. Kati Rinehart was listed in fair condition this afternoon, according to a Wesley Medical Center spokesperson.

Sams, a graduate of Ark City High School, is listed in serious condition at Wesley.

KAKE reports that two people were in the car that caused the crash. One man was injured and a woman tried to run from the scene but was arrested. It’s not clear who was driving.

Both twins were active students at Cowley College before graduating in 2009. The women currently are roommates and students at Wichita State University.
