Renaissance festival comes to Ark City in Aug

The Cherokee Strip Renaissance Festival is coming up later this month.

Activities are set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 20 to Aug. 22 at Paris Park. A number of entertainers from last year will return but there will be additional entertainment as well.

An equestrian team called Order of Ettona will do live battles from their horses.

There are also have several live steel groups attending, including Royal Army of Comstocke, Steele Serenity, Brotherhood of Steel and Academe de Duello.

A pirate ship provided by Silverwolf Productions will be on site for tours. A number of pirates will be at the event as well.

Ladies of the Salty Kiss, Misplaced Laces and the Scallywags are coming in to put on pirate comedy shows.

There will be a live forge going and demonstrations on sword making by Shadowhawk Blades. There will also be shows by Sir Mark the Escapologist, Jaqueimo the Jester, Antibus the Juggler and more.

Chivalry for Children will be about teaching kids to be chivalrous and knighting them. There will be a Children’s Realm with all kinds of kids activities as well as a children’s stage where Dragon Scales and Faerie Tales will be performing three times a day.

The festival will have all kinds of food including turkey legs, steak on a stake, roast pig, sno cones, ice cream, burgers and more. To the west of the food court will be the knife throwing games, the King’s smoker and the Red Dragon Tavern will be in the Agri-Business Building.

This year, the event will be having a Queen’s Tea at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets to the tea are $10.

There will be lots of booths with a multitude of wares from swords to figurines and t-shirts and tankards.

Tickets to the festival are $10 for adults, $5 for children.
