Michael Whitesell has been bound over for trial in the beating of a mentally challenged man at a Winfield bar this spring.
A judge determined Friday that sufficient evidence exists to move toward a jury trial. Whitesell was arraigned and pleaded not guilty on a charge of aggravated battery.
His next court appearance is set for Sept. 10.
Chris Minor – the alleged victim in the case – was beaten outside Hot Shotz Bar in March and required hospitalization. His family said the most difficult part of the testimony last week was hearing Minor’s screams and cries on a 911 recording.
"I lost it," his mother, Linda Taylor, said in an e-mail to NewsCow.
