Winfield students involved in minor crash Mon.

A Winfield student was dinged up a bit Monday in a minor accident involving a school district van and another vehicle.

The accident was caused, at least in part, by a non-functioning traffic signal at U.S. 77 and the K-360 bypass near Dillons in Winfield. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m., when the sign, and portions of Winfield, were without power due to an outage.

Three students were involved in the accident and their parents were notified immediately, according to a written statement from USD 465.

One of the students was taken to a hospital emergency room after complaining of knee pain.

Linda Silvers was the driver of the school district van and John J. Camp was driving the second vehicle, according to a police report. Neither driver was hurt.
