Second suspect nabbed in pizza delivery case

Local authorities have arrested a second suspect in connection with the robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery driver in late October.

Johnathon "Joey" D. Coday, 18, Winfield was arrested Thursday in Ark City apparently while attempting to slip into town to visit a friend, Winfield Police Lt. Det. Frank Owens said. A Crime Stoppers tip helped lead to the man’s arrest.

Police continue to look for Coday’s brother, Craig C. Coday, 20, of Winfield. He is the last of three suspects remaining at large in the investigation.

The Codays and Dewayne J. Strickland, 23, Winfield, all face a single count of robbery and other charges. Arrest warrants have been issued for both Codays. Strickland remains in jail, according to an inmate log maintained by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office.

On Oct. 28, a delivery driver reported he was robbed as he attempted to deliver food to the rear door of a home at 900 block of E. Seventh. He said he was met by male subjects who roughed him up before making off with an undisclosed amount of money and the driver’s cell phone.
