Burden chief arrested on dom. battery charge

Burden Chief of Police Travis Lowe has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested Sunday night on a charge of domestic battery, law enforcement and government sources said Tuesday.

Lowe was arrested and booked into the Cowley County Jail around 11:30 p.m. He was later released on $750 bond.

County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Burden and Lowe, 39, was arrested. Details of the disturbance have not been released.

County attorney Chris Smith said his office has received the case and is in the process of reviewing it. Burden city officials had little comment but confirmed Lowe had been placed on administrative leave with pay.
