Couple opening boutique, consignment store

Baby clothes, hair accessories and an E-Bay consignment store, who knew you would ever be able to find all that in one Winfield location?

Chris Mattingly, and his wife Jill Luterek, a couple who recently relocated to Winfield from Texas, are betting the eclectic mix of merchandise will be a popular one. Second Chance Boutique and Consignment, 218 E. Ninth, opened last week.

On the boutique side, shoppers will find baby, toddler and teen tees from the Atlanta Ga.-based Royalty Girl line. The line includes vintage hair accessories, too.

Luterek is good friends with Royalty Girl’s founder, Tara Young, and is excited to be the only Kansas company to carry the line.

"I always wanted to own a boutique," Luterek said. "And be able to carry some things you won’t find at every other place you shop."

Luterek also is making plans to offer a line of pet accessories that include fido fleece, toys, gentle leaders, treats and even glow in the dark collars.

The boutique will showcase a number of lightly-used specialty items being sold on consignment.

Mattingly will hold down the fort on the consignment side. Already a number of people have provided merchandise to be sold on the online auction site E-bay. Second Chance has already posted dozens of listings online.

Mattingly said wanted to offer Cowley County residents a chance to use E-bay consignment services, where retailers often charge 35 percent or more when items sell.

"Now they can stay in Winfield and pay less," he said.
