It appears the sunny and warmer reprieve from winter, is coming to an abrupt halt.

Ice, snow and lower temperatures are all part of a storm expected to arrive late Sunday or early Monday and last through midweek. The National Weather Service has issued a winter-storm warning that is in effect through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Freezing drizzle is expected to begin falling in south central and south east Kansas by late Sunday. A tenth- to quarter-inch of ice is expected to making driving conditions dangerous on Monday.

Accumulation of six to eight inches is likely over parts of central Kansas as snow begins to fall late Monday and into Tuesday, according to weather service projections. Winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour could cause problems with drifting and blowing snow.

Parts of south east Kansas could receive as much as nine to 14 inches of snow.

A winter-storm warning means significant winter weather is occurring or is imminent. Travel can become dangerous, or in some cases, impossible.
