Woman faces list of counts in AC car break-in

A Wichita woman has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Cowley, Butler and Sedgwick County, Ark City police said.

On Wednesday, Angela C. Martinez, 33, was apprehended in Ark City after being identified as a suspect in a vehicle break-in Tuesday. Her bond has been set at $20,000.

Martinez is facing charges for burglary, theft, criminal damage, possession of stolen property, criminal use of a financial card, and drug possession

Local police were put on Martinez’s trail early Tuesday when a man reported his vehicle had been broken into while parked at the hospital in Ark City. Police said the crime was reported quickly enough that investigators were able to identify an electronic trail a suspect had created while attempting to use the victim’s financial cards.

One of the attempts was at Lil’ Bit of Paradise Casino in Oklahoma. Security officers at the casino worked with officers to identify Martinez as a suspect. Martinez is also believed to be a suspect in several other area burglaries with matching characteristics.

So far, Martinez has been arrested on charges that occurred in Ark City. However, police found her to be in possession of evidence from other car burglaries that occurred in Butler and Sedgwick counties.
