Winfield school board has 4 finalists for super

Winfield school board officials have chosen four finalists for the position of USD 465 Superintendent. One of the candidates will replace Marvin Estes, who has announced his retirement.

Beginning Monday, one candidate each day will visit the school district for interviews, a tour of facilities and a meeting with the public.

At the end of each day the candidate will meet with school board members at 6:30 p.m. in private session. Teachers and staff will meet with the candidates from 4 p.m. to 4:30 pm. Students and citizens are invited to attend a reception from 4:30 pm to 5 pm.

Public receptions will be held at the district office on Wheat Rd.

A new superintendent could be named as soon as the next board meeting on Feb. 14.

Finalists are:

Dr. Jim Hardy, superintendent for Wichita County Schools, USD 467 in Leoti, will be here in Winfield Monday.

Daniel Brungardt, asst. superintendent of finance and operations for USD 428 in Great Bend, will be here Tuesday.

Dr. Fred Dierksen, superintendent for USD 376 in Sterling, will be here on Wednesday.

J.K. Campbell, asst. superintendent for USD 470 in Ark City, will be here Thursday.
