Winfield’s Country Roundup music festival will not return for 2011, organizers said Wednesday. Festival officials said they expect to bring the country music festival back in 2012.
Dropping attendance, fewer sponsors and a downturn in the economy were cited as reasons this year’s show won’t happen, according to spokesperson John Foust.
The decision to postpone the show, which has been held each of the last several summers at the Winfield Fairground, was made this week, he said.
Shortly after the the 2010 show, NewsCow reported that ticket sales and attendance had been well below what was expected.
Foust said the Roundup planned to issue a more complete statement on the decision soon.
