Johnson prelim hearing continued to Oct. 4

A preliminary hearing for a Wichita man accused of fatally shooting his wife, a former Cowley County resident, has been continued until Oct. 4.

Reginald Johnson, 38, was scheduled to be in court Wednesday. He is accused of the first degree premeditated murder of Amy Whiteman at their Wichita home Aug. 20.

He allegedly walked into a police substation and told officers he hurt his wife. Police went to the home and found she had been shot multiple times.

Johnson is being held in the Sedgwick County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

Whiteman is a former Cambridge resident and graduated from Central Burden High School in 1989.
