Hearing continued in Amy Whiteman case

A preliminary hearing has been continued until Sept. 19 for Reginald Johnson in the shooting death of his wife, a former Cowley County resident.

Johnson, 38, is being held in the Sedgwick County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, according to the Sedgwick County Attorney’s Office.

He is accused of the first degree premeditated murder of Amy Whiteman at their Wichita home Aug.20.

Authorities said he walked into a police substation and told officers he hurt his wife. They went to the home and found she had been shot multiple time.

Whiteman is a former Cambridge resident and graduated from Central Burden High School in 1989. Relatives still live in the area.
