Whiteman case: Hearing delayed until Oct. 17

The preliminary hearing for accused murderer Reginald Johnson has been continued to Oct. 17. The 38-year-old Wichita man’s hearing was scheduled in Sedgwick County District Court for last week.

He is accused of the first degree premeditated murder of his wife, Amy Whiteman, at their Wichita home in August. Whiteman is a former Cowley County resident with family still living in the area.

Authorities said Johnson walked into a police substation Aug. 20 and said he hurt his wife. Police found she had been shot multiple times.

He is being held in the Sedgwick County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
