The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for all of south central Kansas including Cowley County. Between three and five inches of snow is expected locally.
The snow advisory is in effect through noon Saturday. A snow warning is in effect for counties in the south, west and northwest areas of the state. The storm has the potential to become a major winter storm, according to Bob Frazee, an emergency management official in Arkansas City.
Frazee suggests checking the forecasts regularly through the next 24 hours. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.
