Two people killed in a traffic accident in Sumner County Wednesday afternoon have been identified as Richard A. Knapp, 51, and Cheryl L. McClellan, 54, both of? Alva, Okla. Both were wearing safety restraints, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on two-lane K-42, two miles east of Suppesville, about 3 p.m. Knapp was driving a 1984 Toyota Pickup and headed west. Rodney Collins, 62, Pretty Prairie, was driving east in a 1995 International Semi Tractor. The truck was also pulling a 1997 Stoughton Trailer.
The pickup crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes. Collins attempted to avoid the pickup and was struck on the passenger side. He was not injured, the Highway Patrol reported.
