Chautauqua kidnap suspect has trial delayed

A Chautauqua County jury trial for a man accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl has been continued until Sept. 22, according to the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

Aaron Terning was scheduled to go on trial this week for the 2007 abduction and sexual assault.

Another man charged with kidnapping the same girl was recently sentenced to spend 330 months in prison for aggravated kidnapping. Two counts of rape and two counts of criminal sodomy were dismissed against Stephen Greger. He received the maximum sentence allowed by state law.

There has been little information about the circumstances surrounding the crime because a gag order was issued by the presiding judge early in the proceedings.
