Work on Udall Corner set to start on July 21

Work to improve safety at the intersection of Cowley 3 and U.S. 160 will begin July 21, according to a statement from the Cowley County Engineer’s office.

The project is expected to take approximately 90 days to complete. During that time, the intersection ? which is about six miles west of Winfield ? will be closed to north-south county traffic.

"Road closed" signs will be set up along Cowley 3 and Cowley 4 to give drivers ample warning they are approaching a work zone.

County officials approved a project to improve the intersection, which is very near a curve. That portion of the road, also known as the Udall Corner, has been a common site for serious traffic accidents in the past.
