Two men suffer minor injuries in 160 collision

Seatbelts are credited with preventing two men from sustaining serious injury when their vehicles collided early Saturday morning west of Winfield, Cowley County Sheriff Don Read said.

Donny J. Fuller, 50, Winfield, was westbound on U.S. 160 – just east of the intersection of 51st Rd – when he drove through an area of the highway containing standing water. Fuller lost control and headed toward the ditch before over-correcting and swerving into oncoming traffic, Read said.

Fuller’s vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Otis Moon of Emporia. The vehicle collided nearly head on and the impact sent Moon’s 2006 Grand Vitara into the south ditch.

Both men were wearing seat belts and suffered only minor injuries. They were each taken to William Newton Hospital as a precautionary measure.
