Work is set to begin next week on an asphalt overlay project in Cowley County that is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The project covers 6.5 miles of Cowley 3 from Udall to Cowley 18.
The project is scheduled to start Sept. 8 and the contractor has 20 working days to complete it. If the weather holds up, the project would be done some time in mid October.
Drivers will be routed around the work area and traffic will be down to a single lane at times. Crew members with flags will direct the flow of traffic, according to a written announcement from the county.
APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division is doing the work and will be in charge of traffic control.
