Walkers and runners are being sought for a late-October event aimed at raising funds for the Winfield Food Pantry.
The 2nd annual Fun Walk/Run, hosted by Edward B. Stephenson & Co. Chartered ? is set for Oct. 24 at Island Park in Winfield. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m that day, a new 5K events starts at 8 a.m and the one-mile event is to begin at 8:30 a.m.
Organizers hope to have 200 walkers for the event and are nearly halfway to that goal.
The cost is $15 per person and allows participants to be eligible for prize drawings donated by local businesses. T-shirts are available to registered participants while supplies last.
Additional contributions and non-perishable food items will also be accepted. Children under 5 can participate without registering.
Strollers are welcome but pets are discouraged.
The one-mile event is back for a second year but the 5K event is new. Top male and female in the in the one-mile event will receive a medal. In the 5K, the top three finishers will be awarded medals in a number of age groups.
