Mom busted for leaving kids in car at casino

A 43-year-old Texas woman was arrested for leaving two small children in her car in the parking lot of First Council Casino south of Arkansas City for about four hours Monday morning.

The ages of the children were unavailable but they were left about 3:30 a.m. and discovered about 7 a.m. by a security guard who noticed one of the children walking around the car.

The child said he was looking for his mother, a Kay County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.

The mother, Julie Holmcomb, was found in the casino and arrested for child endangerment and drug violations. She has since bonded out of jail. The children were taken in custody by the state Department of Human Resources.
