AC woman arrested; teen found unresponsive

An Arkansas City woman was arrested for child misconduct, child endangerment, hosting a party and furnishing intoxicants to minors after one of three juveniles involved was taken to the hospital for?possible alcohol poisoning, according to a report from the Ark City Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of South A Street Friday evening where they found a 15-year-old girl "highly intoxicated" and unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center to be evaluated.

Investigators learned that several juveniles were "partying" at the residence of Sheila Delight Martin, 38, in the 100 block of E. Washington Avenue, according to the report. Juveniles at the home said Martin gave them money to purchase the alcohol.

They all drank heavily. The girl who wound up at the hospital was so intoxicated that she fell and hit her head causing her to pass out for 30 minutes or more, said Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace.

"Eventually, she was carried home by the boyfriend and left in the care of her family who called police and an ambulance. Hospital officials determined the girl had also been the victim of a sexual assault," he said.

Three juveniles were arrested for minors in possession; two of the three face charges of unlawful voluntary sexual relations while at Martin’s home. Martin was booked in the county jail. Her bond was set at $5,500.
