First Council robbery suspect in court Oct. 3

A Derby man accused of an armed robbery in the parking lot of the First Council Casino last June is to be back in court Oct. 3 for a case review.

Terry Wayne Menefee, 27, is free on bond. It was reduced recently from $100,000 to $50,000.

The affidavit prepared by the Kay County Attorney’s Office states that Menefee and several others were seen on a surveillance video watching a Wichita man gamble.

The victim pocketed his $3,000 winnings and went to his car for a nap. The robber pulled him out of the car. The victim resisted and was struck on the head with a handgun Menefee had.

The SUV Menefee was driving was also captured on surveillance video and allowed police to track the suspect to Derby where he was arrested.
