Arrests made in Ark City Country Mart heist

Four Winfield residents have?been arrested for the armed robbery of the Country Mart in Arkansas City Sept. 21, police announced Friday.

Michael John Horn, 18; Antowone Jamal Martin, 19; Salena Michelle Dennis, 38, and Harry Randall Miller, 48, were arrested for aggravated robbery, according to Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace.

A search warrant was served on a Winfield apartment house at 1703 Ames Street Thursday night and early Friday morning by Ark City and Winfield police and the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office. All four lived at the address, sources said.

Each of the four arrested face aggravated robbery charges. Bond is $25,000 on each.

Three men entered the store carrying handguns. They were dressed in dark clothing and concealed their identifies by covering their faces with bandanas, scarves or other headgear.

One of the three entered the customer service booth and took an unknown amount of cash. They ran from the store to a parked car behind the store where a fourth person is believed to have been waiting.

They were seen throwing various items of clothing from the?car as they fled.

The police department recently released a picture of a belt buckle. The buckle was not instrumental in clearing the case but Wallace thanked the press for the help. No additional details will be released soon, he said.
