One person was killed in a two-car accident north of Newkirk about 7 a.m., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
It happened just before the first casino, the dispatcher said. It wasn’t clear whether he meant the first casino north of Newkirk or the first south of Arkansas City. There are two large casinos along that stretch of U.S. 77.
The accident was still being investigated and family notifications made at 9:30 a.m. It may be noon before additional information is available, the OHP dispatcher said.
