Ark City chief issues warning on account info

Arkansas City Police are urging residents to not give out any account information over the phone unless they have personally called your bank.

"Definitely, do not give it to someone who has called you," said chief Sean Wallace. "If you do get one of these calls, please make note of the phone number on your caller ID and contact the police department detective’s section at 620-441-4444.

An Ark City man, Cecil Hamilton, received a call Jan. 7 from an unknown number requesting information on his Ark Valley Credit Union credit card. Hamilton gave the information and then realized it was a scam, according to Wallace.

Contact was made with Home National Bank and the account was closed. No charges have been made on his account as of today.
