Those wanting to host a National Night Out block party in Ark City have just over a week to sign up. The celebration is Aug. 3, with a kick-off party at Paris Park Pool set for Aug. 2.
Anyone interested in hosting a block party should contact officers Ryan Williams or Miles Cleveland at 441-4444, during regular business hours Tuesday through Saturday.
Each year, National Night Out gives neighbors a chance to connect with one another and police in an effort to improve community safety. Emergency personnel from a number of agencies visit block parties to answer questions and chat in a less formal setting.
The kick-off at the pool is free to the public. Police invite you to come down for free food, swimming and rides. Among the rides there are also other activities to participate in.
