No one has filed for a seat on either the Arkansas City Commission or the USD 470 school board, according to both the city and county clerk’s offices.
The filing deadline is noon Jan. 27 – less than two weeks away.
The city commission will have three vacancies on the five-person board. Patrick McDonald, Joel Hockenbury and Scott Margolius face expiring terms.
The school board has three positions opening – Darren Reese, Joe Woodward and Joelyn Squires are completing their terms on the board.
In Winfield, Tom McNeish and Michael Ledy’s terms are expiring. Both men have filed for re-election. Taggart Wall and Webster Roth have also filed.
Gail Sawyer has joined the race for the 465 school board. Jamie Hibbs, Lyle Weinert and Vick McClung have filed for four-year terms. No one has filed for the two-year term. McClung and Weinert are incumbents.
City candidates must file with their city clerks.
