Cowley County Emergency Manager Brian Stone said 1,216 Westar Energy customers were still without power late this morning.
That included approximately 900 in Arkansas City and the entire cities of Cambridge and Atlanta, Stone said.
The company hoped to have power restored to 90 percent of their customers this evening, he said. More than 3,000 outages occurred as a result of the winter storm last weekend.
Kansans had a taste of Spring before the winter storm paralyzed south central Kansas and may experience another one tonight.
There is a possibility of isolated strong thunderstorms in this area ahead of a cold front expected to move through tonight, according to Stone.
The line pretty much runs between Cowley, Chautauqua and Elk counties. Fifty mile an hour winds and nickel-size hail cannot be ruled out, he said.
