GE gets Navy overhaul contract for Strother

The U.S. Navy and General Electric Aviation have agreed to a deal that could provide more than $100 million in engine work for GE’s plant at Strother Field.

Naval Air Systems Command awarded GE a contract to overhaul up to 757 helicopter engines in the T-700 line. The first year of the fixed-price contract covers 97 engines and is valued at $11.4 million.

The contract provides for four additional option years that ? if completely utilized ? could bring the total worth of the contract to $100 million or more.
General Electric Engine Services has two plants in Cowley County at Strother Field and in Winfield.

GE’s T-700/CT7 family of turboprop and turboshaft engines currently powers 25 types of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in service with more than 130 customers in more than 50 countries.?
