An accident north of Winfield Wednesday morning has left an elderly El Dorado man hospitalized, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Howard B. Dawson, 88, was taken to Wesley Medical Center around noon, according to a hospital spokesperson. His condition was not immediately available.
Around 9:45 a.m., Dawson was northbound on U.S. 77 about 1.5 miles north of Winfield when his 2006 Dodge collided with a 2007 International truck driven by Anthony J. Heard, 53, Wichita. Heard was eastbound on 146th Rd. and failed to yield, according to the highway patrol.
Heard was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
