A registered sex offender, living in rural Winfield, was arrested Wednesday when Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies smelled pot during a routine visit to the man’s home.
Authorities were visiting Raymond Eugene Danes’ residence at 6632 302nd to verify that Danes lived there. Danes is required to register as a sex offender following a conviction on a charge of sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old child ? through film, magazine or print ? in 2002.
Deputies smelled marijuana in the house and obtained a search warrant. A small amount of pot and several items of drug paraphernalia were recovered.
Danes and Bruce David Baty, 62, were arrested for possession of pot and drug paraphernalia.
