Football, soccer pep rally set for 7 p.m. Wed.

Winfield High School will hold a community pep rally at Sonner Stadium on Wednesday night at 7.

The pep rally will begin with the Winfield High School Pride of the Vikings Marching Band performing their 2009 contest show Disco Lives. The band will participate in the Southern Plains Marching Festival at Andover District Stadium on Wednesday afternoon prior to the pep rally.

The WHS Cheerleading Squad will perform, as well as Electric Blue, the WHS dance team. Weather permitting, the pep rally will conclude with the Burning of the V, which was rained out during homecoming week.

Members of the WHS football and soccer teams will be introduced. WHS soccer will play in the regional finals on Thursday afternoon in Hutchinson in an attempt to make the state playoffs for the second year in a row. This year’s soccer team has already broken the school record for wins in a season.

The WHS football team will attempt to defend the Cowley Cup on Thursday evening against the Ark City Bulldogs at Curry Field. It will be the final football game ever played at Curry, as the Bulldogs will open a new football stadium in 2010.

All Winfield fans are encouraged to attend the pep rally and support activities at WHS.
