Those whose neighborhoods plan to participate in Winfield’s National Night Out in early August have until Monday to register their block party.
To register, contact David Dougherty at the police department, 221-5555. Registered events are eligible for prizes and visits from EMS, fire and police department personnel.
National Night Out was developed more than 25 years ago as a crime and drug prevention activity for communities nationwide.
From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 4, residents in neighborhoods throughout Winfield are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening out with neighbors and police.
Many neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks, contests and youth activities.?
