Run of WCT show being dedicated to Callison

Winfield Community Theatre’s production of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum opens next Friday and all performances of the show will be dedicated to the late Norman Callison, who died this week.

Callison was a founding member of WCT and appeared in a number of stage performances produced by the group.

The show is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and again Aug. 21 and 22 at the community theater at Baden Square. A matinee on Sunday was moved to 4:30 p.m so as not to conflict with a show commemorating Callison’s life that will be performed at the high school.

Tickets are $8 each and are available at the Winfield Chamber office and McIntire Income Tax Service in Arkansas City. You can also buy online by clicking here. Season tickets are available by calling the box office at 221-6270.

"Forum" is the first WCT show of 2009 and is directed by Melody Krueger and Vicki Schafer. Music is under the direction of Mike Trollman and Susan Schultz.

The production is based on a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. WCT will produce five shows this season, including Neil Simon’s Chapter Two.

Audience members will also have a chance to make a contribution to the Buck family who lost a family pet and belongings in a house fire this week.
