Two Arkansas City men were arrested after police said they were caught trying to rip off Woods Lumber early Thursday morning.
Claude Mangel Jr., 60, and Bradley Nichols, 34, were both arrested and face a single charge of attempted burglary. They were booked into the Cowley County Jail.
Officers arrived at the business on 115 W. Jefferson to find Mangel Jr. sitting in a truck outside the building. Then police learned that a second person had entered the business by climbing a fence.
A key to the property was obtained and Ark City police and the Kansas Highway Patrol entered to find Nichols inside.
