An Ark City man was arrested early this morning on alcohol related charges, after striking a utility pole in the IXL area, Cowley County Sheriff Don Read said.
Derek Fulton, 19, faces charges of driving under the influence and minor in possession of alcohol. The crash happened around 4:10 a.m. Monday morning.
Read said Fulton was westbound on 322nd near the intersection of 61st Rd. and was driving too fast. He lost control drove across 61st and hit the pole in a 1995 Ford F-150.
Melissa A. Martinez, 22, was passenger in the vehicle. Neither occupant of the truck was seriously injured.
WEEKEND INCIDENT
Read declined to comment on an unrelated incident said to have happened in the IXL area over the weekend. The sheriff’s department will release a statement in regard to the situation ? which left at least one person hospitalized ? on Tuesday.
