Zeller Motors name used on phony coupons

Zeller Motor Co. and the Ark City Police Dept. are warning consumers about a bogus maintenance plan that bears Zeller’s name but has no real connection to the auto dealership.

Officials with Zeller Motors asked for a public announcement from police after a customer came in earlier this month expecting a free oil chang after purchasing a $44.95 Neighborhood Maintenance Plan. The customer received printed paperwork that included Zeller Motors’ name, address and phone number.

The advertisement has been traced back to a company based in Lyons and was purchased from a person identifying themselves as "Ryan," according to police.

Mark Robbins, owner of Zeller Motors, said the company does not endorse the service plan or its coupons. He advised consumers to ask for a Zeller Motors business card or other identification.

Police and company officials said the service plan was merely a scam and a rip off.
