Double downer: Woman in jail has card taken

A woman arrested on a bench warrant ran into more trouble Thursday when a police search of her purse turned up a stolen credit card and receipts showing she used the card, according to Ark City police.

Tera Brumley was arrested around 10 a.m and an officer found the card and receipts when doing an inventory of the woman’s property. Officers contacted the victim, who also happened to be in jail at the time.

The victim, whose name police did not provide in a report of the incident, said Brumley had lived at the victim’s house for awhile. Brumley apparently took the credit car from the mail, activated it and began using it.

After police read Brumley her rights, she is said to have admitted activating the card and using it several times. She faces charges of forgery, theft, criminal trespass and two counts of criminal use of a financial card.
The bond on Brumley’s municipal warrant was $980.

A judge increased bond to $10,000 based on the additional charges.
