Winfield man arrested for robbery in Ark City

A Winfield man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly shoved a girlfriend and stole two moneybags the womans was carrying, Ark City polic said.

John Edward Harris faces charges of robbery, intimidation of a victim, battery domestic violence and disorderly conduct. He is in the Cowley County Jail on $50,000 bond.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m when police were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Second St. to investigate a robbery. A woman reported that a man arrived at her residence as she returned home from work.

The woman owns a business in Cowley County and had gone to the bank to make a deposit and get start up money for the next day of business. Harris is said to have pushed the woman as he took the monebags and told her he’d damage property if she called police, according to a written report of the incident.

Harris was later located at a residence in Ark City and arrested. The report did not indicated how much money the man is accused of stealing.
