Overnight temp dropped to 11; warm up likely

Brrrr…. Local weather watcher Arlan Anglemyer reports that the temperature dropped as low as 11 degrees early Wednesday morning. Anglemyer collects weather data at a location east of Winfield and submits it to the National Weather Service.

The precipitation predicted for Cowley County has yet to materialize. Anglemyer reports that just a trace of freezing rain or drizzle had fallen by 7 a.m.

Sunny skies and a high of 19 degrees are expected for the rest of the day. The temperature is expected to climb to 32 for a high on Thursday and warm up more toward the weekend.

Sunday’s high is expected to be around 50 degrees.

Local law enforcement agencies reported a few weather-related auto accidents, but none was serious.
