Trial in K. Koroma case is delayed until Spring

The trial for a man accused of killing Winfield’s Kiyon Koroma in Oklahoma City a year ago, has been delayed until the spring, according to Oklahoma District Court records.

George Robert Anderson III faces a single count of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Koroma on Jan. 4, 2009. Anderson’s trial had been set to begin in February but the trial date has been moved to April 5.

Anderson has been denied bond.

Prosecutors believe Koroma met Anderson and two women at a club the night of his death. An altercation occurred in Koroma’s hotel room and the local man was shot.

Koroma, 31, was found dead around 2 a.m. in a room at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, 2001 S. Meridian Blvd. Police responding to a report of shots fired at the hotel arrived to find Koroma injured and the suspect nearby.

Koroma was in Oklahoma as a coach for a youth wrestling event.
