Newkirk man dies in crash while eluding cops

A Newkirk man was killed Monday when he rolled his car while trying to evade a Kay County Sheriff’s deputy who was trying to pull him over, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Brennan Guidry, 29, crashed the 1994 Chevy Suburban he was driving while trying to negotiate an intersection at Pecan Rd. and Gate Rd. about 3.5 miles north of Newkirk. Guidry was partially ejected from his vehicle and suffered massive head injuries.

Authorities were attempting to pull over Guidry just after 8 p.m. as he was heading north on Pecan but he would not stop. He failed to negotiate the intersection, which authorities said has a correction line.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Sources told NewsCow Guidry was known to law enforcement from previous incidents.
