Autopsy done on a young woman found dead

An autopsy has been performed for a woman found dead in a Winfield home this weekend, police chief Danny Parker said, but results have not been returned.

The body of Jeanette Brooks, 29, was discovered at a home at 331 N. Massachusetts late Saturday or early Sunday. Brooks had been staying at the home and had gone to lay down and get some sleep.

An individual sleeping in the same room woke up for work and found Brooks was not breathing. Some narcotic drugs were found in the home, Parker said, though it was unclear what Brooks might have taken.

The death may have been an accidental overdose but an autopsy will provide the most precise information about the woman’s death, he said.

"It’s an unattended death, and she’s younger," Parker said. "So in those cases we have an autopsy done, just to rule out anything suspicious."
