Shoe print puts AC cops on the trail of burglar

Shoe prints ? identified by a local tracking team ? helped Ark City police locate suspects in a weekend burglary, according to a written report of the incident.

Just after noon Sunday, officers went to a home in the 100 block of Fourth St. to investigate a report of a residential burglary. Someone had entered the home earlier in the morning and removed about $3,000 in property.

The Cowley County Trackers helped find a shoe impression in the backyard of the home and what appeared to be a matching print at the back door of a house in 900 block of Fifth St.

Officers made contact with the occupants of that home and learned a man, identified as Andrew Estrada, 22, Ark City, had left just before police arrived.
Estrada was located in in 1800 block of E. Seventh and arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A second man, Brett Pickle, 18, Ark City, was with Estrada and the two were taken to the police department to be interviewed. Those interviews led police to a third, juvenile suspect who was also brought in for questioning.

Some of the stolen property was recovered at Pickle’s home and some was found at the juvenile’s home, according to the report.

Estrada was arrested and faces charges of burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property. His bail was set at $6,000.

Pickle was arrested and faces charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and aiding a felon. His bail is $6,000.

The juvenile was transported to the juvenile detention center in Hutchinson.
