Heated words turned to violence in Ark City Saturday morning when one man attacked another man with a hatchet, according to police.
Heriberito Ramos is accused of the attack and faces charges of aggravated battery and disorderly conduct. Witnesses said Ramos charged the other man with the tool and struck the person in the side of the head.
The victim’s name has yet to be released.
Ramos swung with a sideways motion with the hatchet and partially severed the victim’s ear and caused a deep laceration, according to a statement from police. Police and EMS were first called to the scene after receiving a report of a man suffering heavy bleeding in the 300 block of E. Madison.
The argument apparently began due to past difficulties the two men had had with another.
